What's To Come

Hi there! My name is Leah, I am the owner/creator of Manitoulin Designs. I thought I would start off my website with a little introduction into who we are and what's to come. Let me know if there is anything you would like to see!

Who are we?

My name is Leah, I am originally from Virgil, Niagara-On-The-Lake. I was born and raised there in the best town I could have ever asked for. I moved to Guelph when I was 17 to go to the University of Guelph. Moving to Guelph was the best decision I had ever made, meeting the best people, growing into my best self, and being apart of the best community.

Guelph

I lived in Guelph for about 5 years and worked for the best company: Balzac's Coffee Roasters LTD. They really changed my life showing me how much love can be put into a company. While working at Balzac's I gained many lifetime friendships, learned about what goes into a successful business. I really appreciate what Balzac's had given to me, and will always speak highly of them.

Moving to Manitoulin

In 2020 it was decided moving to Manitoulin would be the best fit, and then COVID-19 happened. I got laid off from my job, and was sitting in my little apartment for 2 months doing nothing but, drawing, painting, and just being creative in general. We decided, that moving a littler easier than planned would be the best course of action going forward.

We packed up our little apartment and did one big move, not stopping. This was something that was very scary and exciting for me, I was moving 8 hours away from my family and friends to start on a new adventure.

Exploring Manitoulin

Once I settled in, it was time to explore! All summer all I did was outdoor activities. I was at the beach everyday, hiking, boating, camping and just exploring what the island has to offer. The island has offered me so much inspiration and that's where Manitoulin Designs started. I wanted to create things that would remind you of how welcoming and the warmth you feel from Manitoulin.

What's to come

Going forward I plan on continuing to make products that bring joy, and warmth into your life/home. I also plan on writing on this blog to share insight into exploring the island, highlighting things to do, places to go, and showcasing other small businesses here. I will also be taking you along on my normal adventures, exploring campgrounds, hiking, and sometimes showcasing things in my hometown in Niagara-On-The-Lake. So come along on this exciting journey with me!
